Experiencing Different Cultures
During our enrichment week, the school looked at different cultures from around the world. Each class based a whole week around a different country or continent. In Year 2 we completed lots of exciting activities linked to the wider curriculum about Brazil.
Art
During our art lessons we researched an artist called John Dyer. We focused on some of his paintings of spiritual butterflies and the Rio Gregório deep in the Amazon Rainforest of Brazil. The painting was painted on location in the Amazon rainforest.
From our research, we began our art journey experimenting with oil pastels, looking at shapes and colour and describing the different techniques used in his artwork. We then discussed the rainforest and the animals we would see in the rainforest. We picked a colourful bird to focus our final piece on. Below are the final pieces we created.
We also enjoyed creating our own carnival inspired headdress, where we focused at symmetry.
