Year 5 have had a great morning exploring the skills needed for the Christmas biscuits we are going to make. We used salt dough to practise mixing, kneading, dusting, rolling and cutting. To start, we combined the ingredients by mixing them all together. We then dusted the surface and rolling pin to stop the dough from sticking. Next, we rolled the dough out, ensuring we were turning it regularly. Lastly, we chose our favourite shape to cut out. Although we can’t eat these, we are going to bake them, so we can decorate them next week. They will become Christmas tree decorations! The salt dough worked perfectly for us practising our skills.
