This week in Year 3 we have been continuing our learning on volcanoes in Geography, and we have been loving it! We learnt about tectonic plates, and how they are involved in formation of mountains, they can cause earthquakes and how their movement can cause volcanoes to erupt. We got the atlases out for the first time this year, and the children loved seeing lots of different maps and pictures of places around the world. We used the atlases to help us with our work on tectonic plates, where they are located and which countries are on which plate. We also had some challenges to see who could find different maps, countries and capital cities first in order to build our skills in using an atlas. The children especially enjoyed this part and couldn’t wait to find the information first!
