This week in History, Year 3 have been continuing our learning about the Stone Age. We had a great afternoon, finding out about Stonehenge, how it was built and its historical and cultural significance. We were all amazed that the Stone Age people managed to build it with such huge and heavy rocks without the help of lorries or machines! Then we looked at the various reasons people think that Stonehenge was built for. We learnt that no on actually knows the reason it was built, but historians and archaeologists have used evidence left behind to make educated guesses. The children then had to take on different roles for our debate. We had a debate in which the children had to say which reason they believed Stonehenge was built for, and give reasons for it. The children really enjoyed it, and we voted at the end to see which reason most people agreed with.
