What a fantastic day we have had! From learning what life would be like living in the apprentice house to exploring machinery inside the main mill, year 5 took the journey back in time to learn about Victorian mill life.
The children were amazed to see how apprentices lived and the fact Mr Isherwood could have sold the children to a mill owner for a mere 20 Guineas.
We listened to the gory details of child injuries in the mill and watched a wide range of mill machines in action before climbing our way back up past the water wheel to return to school.
As adults we were so proud during the day to be approached by 3 separate adults who all commented on what a credit the children were and how well they behaved. Many thanks also to our parent helpers!
A day to be truly proud of Year 5. Now it’s time to get on with our learning after such a brilliant beginning.
