Year 2: Home Learning Week 2
27.4.2020

Hi Year 2,

I hope you are all okay, had a lovely week and have made the most of the sunshine. Aaron and I have spent lots of time in the garden this week doing some weeding, watering the flowers and mowing the grass. Now that the flowers are growing nicely, we have had lots of visits from bees. We were lucky enough to enjoy a BBQ for tea on Friday, and we had lots of delicious food. My favourites were the chicken skewers and juicy burgers. Scout is enjoying lots of walking and playing in the paddling pool outside as you can see from the pictures!!

I really hope you have all enjoyed the first week of the home learning activities. I have loved seeing all of your hard work that you have been sending via Class Dojo. Let’s get started with this week’s activities…

Reading: Week 2

We are continuing to focus on retrieval this week, and we are going to look at multiple choice questions. I have decided to link our reading this week to Captain Tom Moore. It is his birthday this week, and he is going to be 100 years old. I’m sure you will have heard lots about him already, but the comprehension is all about him, his life and what he has been doing to raise money. He really is a hero!

Maths: Week 2

In Maths this week, we are going to continue revising Place Value by looking at comparing and ordering numbers up to 100. You were all brilliant at this back in the autumn term, so I’m sure you will be just as fantastic now! I have attached the activity and then some extra challenges on reasoning and problem solving!

Writing: Week 2

After last week, you should now have a word bank of nouns, adjectives and verbs. Your task this week is to retell the story of the video. I have added my example again and you can use this to help you. Watch the video again, and this will help you to really understand the story. You will also need to come up with a title for your story. I can’t wait to read what you have written!

Parents/Guardians: I have attached an information sheet to support your child with their writing. I have also attached a writing criteria sheet, which details what we have covered so far in Year 2!

Thank you parents and guardians for all of your hard work, you are doing a brilliant job during these unprecedented times. Children, carry on working hard and enjoying the time with your families 🙂

Once again, the most important thing is that you are all staying safe, staying home and looking after each other.

Missing all of your smiling faces lots.
