Experiencing Different Cultures

Last week, St Catharine’s CE had an enrichment week where we were looking at different cultures from around the world. Our whole week was based around this and we each had a different country/continent to focus on. The teachers prepared lots of exciting activities for us to do that linked to the wider curriculum for Art, R.E. and Music.

Below you can see what we got up to!

Art

In Year 5 we started our art work by looking at a starting point. We used this to take inspiration for our art work and looked closely at the 8 visual elements! As you can probably see we looked closely at colour and tone.

We used the Kenyan artist Gakonga and researched all about him and his life before we created our design.

As you can see we took lots of care when creating our final piece, and were keen to evaluate it afterwards.
